FAQ

What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT) is physical therapy specifically for the pelvic floor muscles, organs, tissues, ligaments, and structure. As pelvic floor physical therapists, we use a combination of hands-on, manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, patient education, and behavioral changes to improve pelvic health. Our techniques are beneficial for dysfunctions in the lower back, abdomen, chest, hips, and more.

Who Can Benefit From Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Anyone at any age can benefit from PFPT. Our services are designed specifically for those before, during, and after pregnancy, postpartum, pre- and post-surgery (such as hysterectomy or gender-affirming surgery), urinary leakage, constipation, pelvic pain, erectile dysfunctions, and so much more.

What Happens During a Therapy Session?

During a pelvic floor physical therapy session, you can expect a personalized and comprehensive approach to address your specific concerns and goals. The session may include:

  • Initial Assessment: Your therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your medical history, symptoms, and physical examination, including an assessment of pelvic muscle function and strength. *no stirrups or speculum used

  • Treatment Planning: Based on the assessment findings, you and  your therapist will develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

  • Hands-On Therapy: Your therapist may utilize various manual therapy techniques to address muscle tightness, weakness, or dysfunction in the pelvic floor and surrounding areas. *internal is not required and always up to patient comfort

  • Therapeutic Exercises: You will be guided through specific exercises designed to improve pelvic floor muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility.

  • Education: Your therapist will provide you with valuable information and education about pelvic health, lifestyle modifications, and strategies to manage and prevent symptoms.

  • Follow-Up and Progress Monitoring: Throughout your treatment, you and your therapist will track your progress, adjust your treatment plan as needed, and provide ongoing support to help you achieve optimal outcomes.

We also provide a document with questions to reach out to your insurance company to determine your reimbursement.

* We are unable by law to work with any patients insured by medicaid or medicare.

How Much Does A Visit Cost?

We are only seeing patients virtually through telehealth visits at this time. Our treatment sessions are $265 each with superbill provided for reimbursement.

We do offer sliding scales at set times throughout the year and announce them on our newsletter and text alert system.

Do I Need A Referral From My Doctor?
